About the artists
The Bicentennial Memorial Accordion Choir honors the two centuries that have passed since the accordion's invention. In long-form pieces, they mix lush, percussive, and discordant instrumentation with traditional European-American melodies. The members of BMAC hail from the greater Boston and Providence areas.
Rachel Devorah practices improvisation with bespoke electronics, both analog and digital, and with French horn, her mother tongue. Sometimes she puts notes on a page.
EHRDZ (Jessica Hernandez) is a Dorchester-based DJ, sound artist, and curator broadly interested in repetition and continuity, the sounds of industrial objects and materials, and visceral percussive arrangements.
Heathen Shame is the trio of Greg Kelley, Wayne Rogers, and Kate Village. In the two-plus decades since their founding in 1999, they have unleashed an unbridled twin-guitar, feedback, and trumpet onslaught like no other.
Isabella Koen is a sound artist, DJ, and composer based in Providence, RI. She is best known for her hard-driving, all-hardware live sets and off-kilter releases.
Carl Schmidt is a Boston-based DJ and electronic musician.
Abdul Hamid Sherzai creates sound and art in Worcester, Massachusetts. He's made bedroom noise under various monikers since 2006. "Not for the faint of heart, but for the hard of hearing."
Teignmouth Electron is Maureen Hallomas, a long standing experimental sound artist living in Brighton, UK. She is originally from Boston.
