About Morton Subotnick
Morton Subotnick is a trailblazer in the development of electronic music and multimedia performance. He co-founded the SanFrancisco Tape Music Center in the early 1960s and collaborated with Don Buchla on one of the first analog synthesizers. His seminal work, Silver Apples of the Moon (1967), was the first electronic composition commissioned by a record label and is now preserved in the Library of Congress National Recording Registry. Amassing many awards and widespread recognition for his contributions, he continually evolved as an artist, using breakthrough digital technology in composition and performance, as well as developing a series of interactive environments for children to learn about and create music.
