About the program

Laura Cocks (they/she) is a flutist with “febrile instrumental prowess” (The New York Times), who works in a wide array of environments as a performer of experimental music and “creates intricate, spellbinding works that have a visceral physicality to them” (Foxy Digitalis).

Laura is the executive director and flutist of TAK ensemble, “one of the most prominent ensembles in the United States practicing truly experimental music” (I Care If You Listen), with whom Laura makes musics "that combine crystalline clarity with the disorienting turbulence of a sonic vortex” (WIRE Magazine). They are also a member of Talea Ensemble, noted for their “astonishing fluidity,” “compelling lucidity, ” and “precise control” (The New York Times). Their latest solo release is FATHM, which came out on the Relative Pitch & Out of Your Head Records labels.

Huichun Yang is a Providence-based Taiwanese sound artist and computer music programmer. Inspired by the physicality of balloons, her performance explores breath as sonic material, speaking with her history and surroundings. She works with pressure and tension that disturb the boundaries of bodies, making balloon noise with latex, breath, and mouth shape to create different resonances—an untranslatable voice, detached from context but visceral and tactile in vibration.

Huichun has performed at the Residual Noise (2025, Providence), SOUND/IMAGE Festival (2024, London), among other events. She has led livecoding workshops at RISD Digital Media and NYU ITP. She is currently pursuing an MFA in Digital Media at RISD
