About the artists

Anne-F Jacques is a sound artist based in Montréal, Canada. She is interested in amplification, oblique interactions between materials and construction of various contraptions and idiosyncratic systems. Her particular focus is on low technology, trivial objects and unpolished sounds. Anne-F is involved with Crustacés Tapes, postal sound distribution project, and the Presses Précaires tape label.

Gudinni Cortina is a media artist based in México, who uses a variety of different approaches to transform space, such as live sound performances, photography, and installation. He organized and curated the UMBRAL series and is currently the Director and Curator of the ISO series, both in Mexico City.

Gabriel Drolet is a musician from Montréal. He mainly uses the double bass to interact with sound in the environments in which he finds himself. He frequently collaborates with his friends Anne-F Jacques, Eugénie Jobin, Frédérique Roy and Mike Bjella. He was involved in the Café Résonance concert series from 2018 to 2021. He has lately been animated by the exploration of just intonation as well as the wide variety of acoustic phenomena he hears in the realm of quiet sounds.

Seth Cluett is an artist and composer whose work ranges from photography and drawing to video, sound installation, concert music, and critical writing. His “subtle…seductive, immersive” (Artforum) work has been characterized as “rigorously focused and full of detail” (e/i) and “dramatic, powerful, and at one with nature” (The Wire). Exploring the territory between the senses, Cluett’s works are marked by a detailed attention to perception and to the role of sound in the creation of a sense of place, the workings of memory, and the experience of time.

Vic Rawlings is a musician, instrument builder, sound installation artist, filmmaker, and teacher based in western Massachusetts. He performs and teaches across North America and Europe. He uses instruments of his own design: an amplified/extensively prepared cello and a highly unstable electronic instrument with an array of exposed speaker elements. He collaborates with a broad range of artists (Greg Kelley, Tim Feeney, Mary Staubitz, Liz Tonne, Mazen Kerbaj, Mike Bullock, Sean Meehan, and Bhob Rainey), and works in film, theater and dance. He is the co-director of the film Linefork, a documentary about the unheralded banjo legend Lee Sexton.

Greg Kelley has performed throughout North America, Europe, Japan, Argentina and Mexico at numerous festivals, in clubs, outdoors, in living rooms, in a bank, and at least once on a vibrating floor. He has collaborated with a number of musicians across the globe performing experimental music, free jazz and noise, appearing on over 100 recordings in the process. He constantly seeks to push the boundaries of the trumpet and of “music.”
