Hailing from San Juan Island in the Puget Sound of Washington State, ROBIN LOHREY began piano and violin studies from the age of four. As a recent graduate of the Contemporary Improvisation program at Boston’s New England Conservatory, his style uses dance music as a vehicle for broader exploration of process, form, and material. A champion of new music, Lohrey specializes in synthesizing his many fields of training - from baroque counterpoint to jazz harmony - within the confines of avant-garde electronic music. A student of Anthony Coleman, John Mallia, and Bruce Brubaker, Lohrey views Boston’s vibrant and diverse artistic scene as the ideal melting pot for his musical vision and is currently working on his first album.

Robin also makes house music. Listen to his most recent track “Oriole” on Soundcloud

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Brookline Commission for the Arts, a local agency supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
