Hubble’s euphoric wheedlechurn is where the measured precision of downtown minimalism meets the unhinged aggression of Brooklyn loft noise — truly hypnotic and truly New York.” — Christopher R. Weingarten

HUBBLE live can be clean, or dirty, or solo guitar, or a trio with guitar, bass and drums, or an hour long ambitious solo guitar performance called Hubble Superposition, a quadraphonic experience that routes the guitar signal into four different signals which surround the listener on all sides. Greenberg expounds, “Every Hubble set is a concerted effort on my part to change the air in the room, to push it towards a state of greater resonance.” Using mesmerizing guitar mastery to create extended rhythmic patterns of note groupings of varied tempo, dissonance, and harmony, Ben hypnotizes the audience with slowly developing, subtle variation, until the listener is lulled into a highly vivid dream state.

SHARIF SEHNAOUI is a free improvising guitarist. He plays both electric & acoustic guitars, with (or without) extended and prepared techniques, focusing on expanding the intrinsic possibilities of these instruments without the use of effects or electronics. He now resides in Beirut, his hometown, after more than a decade in Paris, where he started his career as an improviser in 1998, playing at Instants Chavirés where he was a member of several orchestras. He has since performed his music worldwide and played in many clubs and festivals such as Soundfield (Chicago), Moers, Konfrontationen (Nickelsdorf), Météo Music Festival (Mulhouse), Club Transmediale (Berlin), Skanu Mesz (Riga) or Musikprotokoll (Graz).

About Overheard/Underground

Overheard/Underground is a concert series that blurs the boundaries between the traditional and the experimental, a platform for artists working in hybrid styles and progressive sounds.
