ANDREA PENSADO is an Argentinian performer, composer and teacher. She has been using digital media and live interactive musical systems since 1995. She studied in Argentina and Poland (Krakow) where she graduated in composition with honors in 1995. Her professors were Barbara Buczek and Boguslaw Schaeffer in composition and Marek Choloniewski in computer music. At first, she composed mainly for acoustic instruments. However, she gradually felt more attracted by different sound realms. Today, the abrasive digital noise of her improvisations is far away from her earlier pieces. Harsh dense layers of sounds, often interwoven with her voice, combine hybrid synthesis techniques to create a highly personal sound language, which reflects an intuitive, emotional and paradoxically also logical approach to music making. She uses MaxMSP as her main programming tool.

“Electronic musician and composer Andrea Pensado brings forth a seven track gem of compositions performed by her and her constituents. KTOTAM happily bears the stench of real life; getting dirty while staying out of the gutter. To further clarify, her compositions, ranging from granular densities to tonal chord clusters, may point to previous masters who pushed through academic doors but she seems to take her compositions out of any stale molds to literally add the freshness of her own voice. For those who dig Xenakis’s electronic music and/or purely love to bask in joyful noise, this one is for you.” - Chuck Bettis/Downtown Music Gallery, NY
