The Support Series is an monthly series of online fundraisers to raise money for and awareness of local social & racial justice organizations. This month we are supporting Little Uprisings for their work to promote racial justice from the ground up by working with schools and community partners. Their work is centered on children's books, and also includes art, movement, music, puppetry, imaginative play, and performance.

We encourage you to learn more about LITTLE UPRISINGS and their inspiring programs... and make a donation!

About the artists
ANDY GRAYDON is an artist and filmmaker originally from Maui, Hawai’i. His work is concerned with natural and social ecologies, and with sound and listening as creative practices. Recent projects have focused on island ecologies and the imaginal and narrative forms employed by the natural sciences. His projects frequently engage structures of music such as the ensemble, the score, improvisation and variation, and techniques of the voice. Often ephemeral in nature, Graydon’s work combines minimal physical materials with elements that are absent, fictional, or imaginary.

SHON KIM is a filmmaker who was born in Seoul, S. Korea. He received a BFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, MFA of Experimental Animation at CalArts, and Ph.D. of Animation Theory at Chung-Ang University. Shon Kim has presented his works at museums and festivals worldwide: MoMA, REDCAT, The Hammer Museum, Modern and Contemporary Art Centre in Hungary, Museo de Arte Contemporaneo in Chile, IFC Center in NYC, the European Cultural Centre, Mana Contemporary, Torrance Museum, Orange County Contemporary Art Center, VisArts, the National Arts Council Singapore, Seoul Museum of Art, Arko Art Center, Daegu Art Museum, OCI Museum of Art, Coreana Museum, Art Center Nabi, etc.

ASHER TUIL is an artist living and working in Providence, RI. For over fifteen years Asher has worked with recorded sounds as his primary medium. Location recordings, electronic synthesis, found sounds, and a variety of other sources are used in his compositions to create a rich and dynamically varied body of work which examines these materials extensively. Recordings of Asher’s compositions have been released by conv, Room40, Winds Measure, and/OAR, and Elsewhere.

DEI XHRIST is a multidisciplinary artist using sound, performance, and sculpture. She began performing music in 2006, spinning loops and lock grooves on multiple record players. Voice was initially added as a background element, supporting Theremin and less conventional sound sources to create audio cut-ups and soundscapes. Xhrist’s voice, now her primary instrument, has been favorably compared to Diamanda Galas. She uses glossolalia, vocal drones, jazz, lounge, and belle voce with a graceful stage presence that has been known to evolve in to a physical assault past the fourth wall.
