About the artist

STERILE GARDEN is primarily the sound/image project of Jacob DeRaadt. The project is informed by DeRaadt’s experience in his late teens/early 20s working in construction settings for primary noise acousmatics. Field recording, tape manipulation, intense editing/cut-up, physical object manipulation, and synthesis combine to form the current form of the project.

Sterile Garden's live sets are typically constructed around films. They have made five films so far, and the project has primarily been a recording project, rather than something centered around a live event happening in real-time. The project seeks to combine aesthetics of industrial and music concrete traditions in new and innovative ways.
