About the artists
MENTALDRIFT is the solo music project of Rob Forman. Forman, an original founder of Non-Event in 2001 with Dan Hirsch, also runs and curates the Sedimental label since 1993, has programmed a range of radio shows over the years at KVRX, KOOP, WZBC and WMUA, and occasionally spins records and creates live sound works as DJ MentalDrift. He also has a duo project with his partner Liz Tonne called MARASCA formed in 2018 while living in Texas. Forman draws from a range of sound sources for his pieces but a core element is always the use of one or more vinyl selections usually altered with portable vari-speed record players and in which repetition and the inherent lo-fi aspects of the machines themselves provide “texture and atmosphere." In general, the more “ambience” the better. Conceptually, Forman looks for unlikely juxtapositions and “feelings” in the process but with a goal towards an auditory wholeness. Grander aspects may be drawn from the experience but that remains a purely personal response from the listener.
"Atkins Leaper" was created live in one take with one room mic on to Mini-Disc on May 9th, 2020 with no overdubs or post-production manipulation outside of general adjusting of levels. Thanks to Liz Tonne for audio assistance and Michael Bullock for video assistance.

LANI ASUNCION is a multi-media artist who creates video, experiments with audio using flora, and constructs installations that she performs within inviting the public to participate. The project, V◉ID, has grown out of the need to bring the experience, feelings, and day-to-day complications of being a performance artist in a time when social interaction is prohibited and dangerous. V◉ID is a portal space, a multi-dimensional platform that allows time to move fluidly in a non-linear fashion bringing the public and private together into one space. It is an embodiment of self-isolation and being disconnected from those around us. Asuncion has created a work that combines private-public park performances, intimate indoor plant music making moments, and live performance response.
