Bats from Pogo is the duo of ANDREA PENSADO and WALTER WRIGHT. Salem, MA-based Pensado utilizes harsh dense layers of sounds, often interwoven with her voice, combining hybrid synthesis and sampling techniques to create a highly personal sound language, which reflects an intuitive, emotional and paradoxically also logical approach to music making. Lowell-MA-based Wright is an interdisciplinary artist, whose practice includes computer programming, electro-acoustic music, and video performance. His focus is on “improvisation as a way of being present in the world.” Wright has developed software and hardware for artists including the Video Shredder, a desktop video processor for the TARGA2K. Currently he works with Max/MSP, softVNS, and Processing.

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Brookline Commission for the Arts and the Boston Cultural Council, both local agencies which are funded by the Massachusetts Cultural Council. The Boston Cultural Council is administrated by the Mayor’s Office of Arts + Culture.
